Join seasoned turkey hunters Carter Heath and Fred Bird for a special Turkey Hunting 101 seminar at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the N.H. Fish and Game Department, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, N.H. No pre-registration is required.
This seminar is a must for new turkey hunters and those looking to increase their turkey knowledge. You’ll learn about the gear needed, scouting for turkeys, turkey behavior and decoys. The session also covers types of turkey calls and when to use them. Find out how and what to say to get that big tom turkey to come to you!
"Turkey hunting is a challenge accented by pure excitement," says presenter Carter Heath. He has been hunting the Granite State for 35 years with both bow and firearm. He went on his first turkey hunt at the age of fourteen, but started to get much more serious when his son Keaton wanted to give it a try. Together they have created some terrific memories and put some turkey tips on the grill. As Chapter President of the Capital Region Strutters, President of the Statewide Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, and a member of Klucky's Outdoor Adventures, Heath cares deeply about the future of our hunting heritage.
Fred Bird is the Regional Director for the National Wild Turkey Federation in New England. He chases wild turkeys all over the Northeast and beyond. Next year, Bird will be heading to Florida on the hunt for the Osceola subspecies, and to Ontario to hunt Canadian gobblers with friends in the Canadian Wild Turkey Federation. An Air Force veteran, Bird spends much of his time hunting and trapping in the New Hampshire wilderness.
So take advantage of this special opportunity to hear from two knowledgeable and experienced turkey hunters.
New Hampshire’s spring turkey hunting season runs from May 3-31, with the youth turkey hunting weekend preceding it on April 28-29, 2018. Learn more about turkey hunting in New Hampshire at www.wildnh.com/hunting/turkey.html.
