Experience Something New at a “Becoming an Outdoors Woman” Course in 2019

New Hampshire’s Becoming an Outdoors Woman Program (BOW) is offering an exciting lineup of courses in 2019 for women who are interested in learning outdoor skills. Application forms and brochures are published at www.nhbow.com when each registration opens. Sign up as soon as possible because these courses fill quickly! Make the coming seasons inspiring—Become an Outdoors Woman this year.

Beyond BOW – Introduction to Shotgun and Wing Shooting — June 8: Join us at Owl Brook Hunter Education Center in Holderness, NH, to develop the skills necessary to correctly and safely fire and care for a a shotgun. Learn basic shooting techniques which will be applied to the art of upland bird and wing shooting. Cost: $70. Registration opens April 15.

Beyond BOW – Intermediate Fly Fishing Weekend – June 21-23: Spend the weekend at Coleman State Park, in the heart of the scenic Great North Woods, further developing your fly-fishing technique and strategy with a group of like-minded individuals. The cabins at Coleman Estates will host you close to all the action. Cost: $270 Registration opens May 6.

Beyond BOW – Cook Like a Wild Woman – July 13: If you are curious about cooking over an open fire, discovering wild edibles, and want to know what to pack for provisions for your next camping trip, then this is the culinary experience for you! Join us at the Great Bay Discovery Center in Greenland, NH to explore a wilder approach to meal preparation. Cost: $70. Registration opens June 3.

BOW Fall Weekend — September 6-8: This is the NH Becoming an Outdoors Woman Program’s biggest event of the year, held at Rockywold-Deephaven Camps in Holderness, NH. Participants choose four workshops to engage in during the weekend. Topics include fishing, shooting sports, hiking, outdoor cooking, hunting, map and compass, kayaking, paddle boarding, sharing nature with children, and more. Cost of $395 includes all meals and two nights lodging, plus instruction, and equipment use. Registration opens June 3.

Beyond BOW – Land Navigation – October 5: What would you do if you became lost in the woods with no cell service to call for help? This one-day workshop at Owl Brook Hunter Education Center in Holderness, NH, will teach participants the fundamentals of map and compass reading, using pace count to measure distance, location determination, route selection, and more to help you find your way back to civilization…if you want to! Cost: $70. Registration opens August 31.
